![]() Who are we? ...we'reOhioplastics (one word, make a note of it.) Weathering the changes that five years of playing together have inevitably brought, the members of Ohioplastics find themselves back at square one. Band members Dan Eash, Angie Anderson and Jason Anderson started making music together in 1998 at the inception of the band. Through lineup changes, the most recent occurring this winter, Ohioplastics is once again a trio. This transition has forced the band to rethink their songwriting and revitalize their sound. The band has intensified their concentration on their key focus, writing good songs that are creative, yet appealing to a wide audience. Ohioplastics, a modern rock band hailing from Mt. Vernon, Ohio, features inspiring songwriting, melodic vocals, driving rock rhythms and intricate guitar and bass patterns. Comparisons of their sound to well known counterparts are difficult to make, although they offer a wide range of musical artists as their influences. Dan Eash, the band’s vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter, centers on vocal and guitar patterns that provide strong foundations for their songs. As far as influences that can be noted in his singing and songwriting, Dan refers to the Foo Fighters, Jimmy Eat World, and Third Eye Blind among many others. While attempting to provoke thought in listeners through his lyrics, Dan intends to present songs to whom all can sing and relate. He centers his lyrics around discovering life through Christian faith and interpersonal communication. Appropriate for the music of Ohioplastics, Angie Anderson’s approach to drumming is playing simple, yet creative beats that maintain clarity, precision and energy. Not interested in being the focal point, Angie’s aim is that her drumming will add the finishing touches to the bands well-rounded songs. She draws influence from Taylor Hawkins of The Foo Fighters and Zach Lind of Jimmy Eat World who, to her, epitomize the qualities in great drumming that she seeks to implement in Ohioplastics. Jason Anderson, the bands bassist, adopts bands such as Rush, the Dismemberment Plan, and Sense Field as his key influences. His musical philosophies and unique style stem from these influences as he continually strives to be a solid bassist allowing his creativity and individuality to speak for itself. The band’s fervor for their music thrives during their live shows and compliments the more wildly energetic and sometimes mellow moments of their stage performance. Ohioplastics is currently focusing on building a fan base and playing as many shows as they can, while constantly writing more music together to add to their lists of musical accomplishments.
